Are you having trouble accessing Ely Library's databases or online resources? These are the most common solutions for resolving issues with Library access, and we recommend considering these steps first:
- Check the source! Sometimes links are embedded in courses, syllabus, or webpages that are out of date or might not be using the permalink. If the link you are trying to use to access the library's resource does not originate from the library's website, or is not using a permalink, try recreating the search from the library's homepage Search Box to locate the resource.
- Is there an alternate link to get to the resource? Many of our resources are available from several different vendors on different platforms. Sometimes the first link, the one that shows on the first page of search results, may be "broken" but there is alternate link that will bring you to the resource you are seeking.
- Clear your web browser's cookie and cache settings. If a web browser’s security settings are strict and block cookies, some library databases and pop-up windows might not function correctly. When our database vendors perform maintenance on their systems, it is possible that you might need to clear your browser's cache.
- Did you encounter an "Oops..." or EZproxy error? Consult the EZproxy Errors page for more guidance.
- Do you have internet access? When experiencing an issue accessing our resources, it can be a good idea to check your internet connection.
A note about known database access problems
In the event of a known problem with a database provider(s), Ely Library will promptly post known updates on the library website as soon as possible. Rest assured, we work closely with our vendors to restore services as quickly as possible.
