Ely Library provides access to a wide range of databases, journals, eBooks, streaming content, and more for the Westfield State University community. Many of these resources are not freely available online and require access through Ely Library. Therefore, it is important to access these resources via the library’s website, regularly check links, and authenticate as needed.
EZproxy Authentication: What to Expect
Most of the library’s electronic resources are configured to work with our EZproxy server. When accessing a restricted resource from off-campus, you’ll be prompted to log in with your myWestfield credentials, which you’ll only need to enter once per session. EZproxy acts as a verification tool, confirming your affiliation with Westfield State University and that Ely Library has paid for access to the resource—this process is called "authentication."
Ely Library's EZproxy Prefix Information
The EZproxy prefix appears in the URL of a direct link to articles, eBooks, and other resources licensed by Ely Library. Although it is called a "prefix" it does not always appear at the beginning of the URL. When the link is clicked on, the EZproxy prefix opens a login screen so the resource can be access from off-campus.
Important note: As of January 31, 2024, links with the “OLD” prefix no longer work. For more information about this transition and steps that faculty and Westfield State University members can take to update their materials, please refer to our Library Linking Changes (2024) guide.
