Digital Repository

Citation Examples

As a general rule, your citation should include the following information:

  • author(s)/creator(s)
  • title of work
  • date of publication
  • date accessed
  • publisher (typically Westfield State University)
  • URL
Helpful Tip: Locating some of this information may require you to hit the button that says "show more" above the resource on the Repository website.

Do I need a DOI?

When referring to educational resources on how to cite research or journal articles, you may see that including a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) is recommended. As a general rule, works in Ely Library's Repository will not have a DOI associated with their entry in the Repository; though some research papers that have been published elsewhere may have a DOI associated with the work as published on another website. In place of a DOI, using the resource's repository URL will often be sufficient. Please check the manual for the citation style you are using to see what they recommend for works without a DOI.
