This photo of the the Euphoria Outing Club includes Louis B. Allyn (back row in turtleneck sweater) who later became a chemistry professor and a leader of the "pure foods" movement. Susan A. W. Payton is in the front row, second from right. She graduated in 1898, became a teacher and eventually moved to New York City, where she was an active leader in what would be known as the Harlem Renaissance. Westfield was one of the first co-educational and racially integrated institutions of higher learning in the United States.
