Reserve a Space at the Ely Library
A visit to the Ely Library in Spring 2021 will be a little bit different from previous semesters. Our spaces will be available to current students, faculty and staff who have been approved to have an on-campus presence. All patrons will be required to swipe their Westfield IDs and students will need to show their testing verification card.
If you are a completely off-campus student wishing to use the library this semester, please send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss the process.
We will have the following spaces available for individuals:
All of these spaces are available on the first floor of the library. Study Carrels are individual desks which include partitions on three sides. All of our study spaces are socially distanced and intended for individual use.
You should make a reservation for each of the hours that you intend to be in the library. For instance if you wished to use a computer in the library from 9:30am to 11:30am you would make a Computer Workstation reservation for the hours of 9am-10am, 10am-11am and 11am-12pm.
You may reserve up to 3 hours per day and can make a reservation up to one week in advance.
Please make sure you have read these rules and understand them before making a reservation. If you are found to be in violation of these rules, you will be asked to leave the library.

When do I need a reservation?
If you wish to use the library space including computer workstations or study carrels.
What if I just want to print something? Do I need a reservation?
No, if you have a quick print job you do not need a reservation but you will only be able to use our stand-up print-only terminals and your visit should not exceed 10 minutes. You will still need to check-in at our Circulation Desk when you enter the library.
Is there a maximum length of time for my reservation?
Yes, patrons may reserve a space for up to 3 hours per day.
How far in advance can I make a reservation?
Do I need to have my Westfield ID with me?
Yes, your ID will be required to swipe into the Ely Campus Center and you will be asked to swipe it again when checking-in at the library. Students will also be required to present their proof of testing card. Students who are exempt from testing will be asked to identify themselves at check-in.
What does the check-in process for the library look like?
If you've made a reservation in advance, you'll be asked for your name and ID number to confirm your reservation. Staff at the desk will remind you of the rules and you'll be asked to swipe your Westfield ID and present your testing verification card. You'll be issued a plastic number to put on your space and directed to take a wipe to sanitize your workspace.

Do I need a library reservation if I have an appointment with Technology Support?
No, you do not need an additional library reservation so long as you do not intend to use a computer workstation or study carrel before, during or after your appointment with Technology Support. You will still need to check-in at the Circulation Desk and will be asked to swipe your Westfield ID.
Do I need a library reservation to pick-up materials I have placed on hold?
No, we will be using contact-less pick-up again this semester. Your items will be bagged, labeled and waiting for you on designated pick-up tables to the left of the library entrance. You are not required to go to our check-in desk to collect these materials. You can simply go to the table, find your items and exit.
Can I request a specific space?
We are unable to guarantee you a specific space. The reservation does guarantee you that there will be the type of space (computer workstation or study carrel) that you have requested. If we have reached capacity for a given time block, you will be added to a wait list.
I need to zoom into my class each week, can I make a standing reservation for the same time each week?
We're unable to put in repeating reservations for the entire semester so you'll have to put in a new reservation request each week for the time slots that you need. Also our spaces are not complete private so you will need to have your own headphones and be mindful of your volume.
