Electronic Text Collections in Western European Literature

Gallica Classique

Complete French texts (no English translation) of a number of French literary masterpieces, arranged by literary period. A project of France's Bibliotheque Nationale that is in its early stages, and contains only a few texts, including Balzac's complete works, and assorted works of such authors as: Rousseau, Baudelaire, Sand, Stendhal, and Zola. The site is expected to include a large body of French literature, more complete than any other electronic source in the world.

National Clearinghouse for ESL Literacy Education (NCLE)

An adjunct ERIC Clearinghouse at the Center for Applied Linguistics (CAL), NCLE is the only national clearinghouse focusing on literacy education, including family literacy, workplace literacy, and native language literacy, for adults and out-of-school youth learning English as a second language. The Online English Grammar

Besides the online grammar, the site contains a bulletinboard chat system, "English Grammar Clinic," that allows users to post or reply to questions about grammer or usage; a sound file to aid users in pronouncing the English alphabet; and "English Language Practice Pages" that enable students to complete exercises and take sample proficiency tests.

The Rosetta Project

Appropriate if you're researching an obscure, lesser-known language. Archiving language samples for preservation, in hopes of eventually preserving as many languages as possible (around 7000). MultiCulturalism
CREDE: Center for Research on Education, Diversity, & Excellence

Based at the University of California, Santa Cruz, CREDE's goal is to assist the nation's population of diverse students, including those at risk of educational failure, to achieve academic excellence. The purpose of CREDE's research is to identify and develop effective educational practices for linguistic and cultural minority students, as those placed at risk by factors of race, poverty, and geographic location. CREDE will continue to improve upon the work of the National Center for Research on Cultural Diversity and Second Language Learning (NCRCDSLL). The research program is based on a sociocultural theoretical framework that is sensitive to diverse cultures and languages, but powerful enough to identify the great commonalities that unite people.
