Use this source to find journal, magazine, and newspaper articles on Education--including
primary, secondary, and university-level topics--with more than half available
in full text.

Open Netscape, Internet Explorer, or any web browser.

At the Ely Library Home Page <http://www.lib.wsc.ma.edu>, click on Quick
Links to Databases.
(If you are off campus, use the Off-Campus link)

Click on Education Journals (ProQuest).

Continue through the guide or Start

Search Options [For
the initial search screen see the example below]
|
Basic Search:
-
Enter your search terms, or keywords, in the dialog box labeled
"Basic Search". Click on Search next to the search
box.

You may Limit your search by selecting options from the dialog boxes:
Date
Range, or Limit results to:. You will find options for
Full
text articles only, and for Scholarly journals, including peer-reviewed.
Basic Search Screen:

Advanced Search: To access the Advanced
Search screen, click on the appropriate tab at the top of your screen. This
allows you to retrieve articles by searching for terms in specified fields:

Enter a search term in the box.
-
From the drop-down menu to the right, select the field in
which you want to search for your term. Fields include citation, abstract,
article text, author, publication title, and subject.

Connect additional terms and fields using the extra search boxes
and the AND/OR/NOT options available in the drop-down box to their left.

You may limit your search by a specified date range, full-text availability,
and/or to articles which originated from scholarly journals.
Click on Search once you have made your selections.
Advanced Search Screen:
Publication Search:
This option allows you to search for specific journals, magazines or
newspapers by name, or to browse an alphabetical listing of all publications
in the database. For those publications for which full-text is available,
"full text" will be noted with the dates covered.

Click on Publication Search tab from the menu at the top of the
screen.

Enter a Publication Name in the box provided and click Search.

Caution: Use quotation marks to retrieve exact titles such as "Journal
of Education" or you may land in a list of titles including the words in
any order.

OR click on a letter to Show all publications starting with that
letter.

Click on a title to Browse Issues for Tables of Contents, Search
Within a Publication, or to get Publication Information.

Result List: displays a list
of citations that match your search term(s).
|
The Result List displays those articles retrieved by your search in the
following format:

Full-text availability and format will be indicated by the
,
,
and/or
icons underneath
the citation. Click on the format of your choice to view the article.
Note:
Viewing the Page Image - PDF format requires Adobe Reader.

You may refine the result list by using tabs at the
top of the list. You can choose to look only at scholarly articles;
magazine
articles; or trade publications. You may also click on "Show only
full text."

Mark Items of interest to print or download selected citations
later
by clicking in the box next to the article number.

Printing, Saving, &
Emailing
|
If you have marked documents, click on
View marked documents. Select Print, Email, or Export
from that screen.To PRINT articles in the
and
formats:

In the Article View screen, click on the
icon.

When the print dialog box appears, click Print.
To PRINT articles in the
format:
-
Click on Page Image - PDF to display the article in Adobe Reader.

Click on the
icon from the Adobe Reader's tool bar.

When the print dialog box appears, click Print.
To SAVE articles to a disk:
-
From the Article View click on File > Save As from the menu bar.

From Adobe Reader screens, click on the disk icon to save the pdf file.
- Select the appropriate drive, enter a filename, and click Save.
To EMAIL articles:

In Article View screen, click on the
icon.

Choose the format of the information you want.

Enter an email address in the box provided. You may also enter a
subject line, and a message.
